Middle School

A Central Journey…

From lifelong learners to impactful innovators, our Middle School students progress in their academics and life purpose through a curriculum that focuses on not just the how, but also the why.

“Having a purpose is a big question for these kids today; and when we can help them find that within the realm of Christ’s kingdom, we can help them work towards being world changers.”

Kevin Wassenaar, Middle School History Teacher

6th Grade

As students start their Central Journey in MIddle School, we walk alongside them and teach them about important skills for Middle School, High School, and the real world. 6th grade students take a life skills class where they learn to organize their work, effectively communicate their thoughts, and work together for the glory of God (1 Corinthians 3:9). Students are also introduced to a subject based schedule where they learn from our knowledgeable faculty on physical science, Minnesota history, language arts, math, and a journey through the Bible that challenges students to engage in deeper learning.

7th Grade

As students continue their Central Journey through Middle School, we continue to engage them through worship experiences and messages during chapel to help them grow into effective Kingdom Citizens.  Traditional subject work in the classroom and opportunities outside of the classroom provide formational learning experiences to help our students learn about our world and our place in it.  One of these opportunities is Camp Encounter, where students build life skills through collaboration and teamwork. Students also learn more about the early settlers to our area and how we can scientifically study God’s creation through experiential learning.

Lastly, students apply their writing skills as they immerse themselves in God’s creation and reflect on His beauty (Psalm 95:4-5).

8th Grade

As students prepare to finish their Central Journey in Middle School, we work with them on sharing and reflecting on their faith journey through our Faith Formation Portfolio. Students will begin reflecting on how their schoolwork and experiences at Central impact their faith formation. Students start their portfolio in 8th grade and finish their reflections as they graduate from Central. In 8th grade, students continue to journey deeper into Christian Learning through proclaiming God’s truth through speeches (Mark 16:15), exploring God’s creation in Earth science, discovering God’s order through math, and reflecting how God’s unchanging presence is in our nation’s past, in our world today, and forevermore (Hebrews 13:8).
