Elementary, MS, and HS music teacher

Fun Fact or something you like to do:
Something fun about me is that I love to clean and organize. I clean out and organize my house almost every other week. It is one way to process things and destress.

Share about your relationship with Christ
Through so many hard situations in my life, God continues to reveal his grace and faithfulness. Many times I think that I can handle different situations, but God comes over and lovingly reminds me that His strength is what carries me through, not mine.

How is Jesus taught in your classroom?
Kids are enrolled in music until they are in 9th grade, then they can choose if they want to be in choir or not. With that, I have many students who do not care for music or singing. In Ephesians it says, “Speak to one another with psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord.” The audience is one another. Our singing is a way to communicate with one another in the body of Christ. The second command is to “sing and make music in your heart to the Lord,” that is, to the Lord Jesus Christ. This time a different audience is in view. Here we are singing to Jesus himself, and we are not just singing with our mouths but with our hearts. To make music in your heart doesn’t just mean to feel the music; it means to sing from the center of your being, with your whole self, to make music with integrity.
